Ideally wildlife response is tested as part of a larger oil spill response exercise to assess and optimise the level of integration of the wildlife aspects into the overall plan.

We are involved in annual exercises with the Shannon Estuary Anti–Pollution Team (SEA-PT).  Response capabilities are exercised with a simulated event involving a pollution incident that comprises of a practical element, that complements the desktop element giving responders the opportunity to practice skills that will be required in an emergency, to work together closely and develop relationships, and to make complex decisions under stressful circumstances.
